Community Leadership Awards Dinner

Asia Houston Network hosted a dinner honoring two outstanding community leaders: Rogene Calvert, president of the Houston 80-20 Asian-American political action committee, and Glen Gondo, chair of the Mayor's International Advisory Development Council.  Guest speakers were state Senator John Whitmire, state Representative Hubert Vo, County Judge Ed Emmett and Council Member Peter Brown.  Attendees included Harris County District Clerk Theresa Chang, County Clerk Beverly Kaufman, Donna Fujimoto Cole, former City Council member Gordon Quan, Honorary Consul General of Thailand Charles Foster, Mini Timmaraju of Congressman Nick Lampson's office, Jason Fuller of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's office, Helen Chang of the Mayor's Office, KRIV FOX26 General Manager D'Artagnian Bebel, Miya Shay of KTRK ABC13, Tom Griffin, Barry Warner, Grandmaster Kim Soo, Southern News Group CEO Wea Lee, Hoang Quan Vu, Mandy Kao, Yuki Rogers, Alice Lee, Asia Society's Martha Blackwelder, and Diane Yoo.  To view photos, click here.

Women's Self Defense Seminar: MIND, BODY & SPIRIT

This is a free event.   Chayon-Ryu (Korean for " Natural Way ") teaches natural body motion as the basis of all techniques in order to promote power, safety, health and fitness. From this system, one becomes self-confident and gains self-esteem. With these components, one is able to fight the everyday enemies, which are internal such as stress, worry, insecurity, jealousy, impatience, defeat and depression.  For more information, click here.
